From the series “ Famous Czechs”
There’s no better place to exhibit these silhouettes than the Bohemian Spirit restaurant at the Bohemian National hall in Manhattan, NYC. This beautifully renovated, historic building houses the Czech embassy and Czech cultural center of New York. They also have great food and the best Pilsner Urquell on draft!
I first presented the “Famous Czechs” series here last year at the “6 minute challenge”, an event held by the Bohemian Benevolent & Literary Association (BBLA) also located at this building. The positive feedback I received led me to expand on the theme and re-exhibit downstairs in the restaurant.
I’ve always liked non-gallery settings for my art to reach more people. That's why I like to show at the cafes and restaurants of NYC. It started a while ago with one of the most successful shows of my career, an exhibition of my portraits at the windows of Bergdorf Goodman, on the corner of 57th street and 5th avenue. Since then I have been more interested in the non-gallery setting to reach as large an audience as possible.
